Family Link and iPhone

Does Family Link work on a child’s iPhone?

There are two different situations: a parent uses an iPhone to manage a child’s Android device, or the child uses an iPhone. Family Link does not provide the same controls in both cases.

How it works in real life

Moving from Android to iPhone does not transfer the rules

A child may still use a supervised Google account in supported services. That does not mean a game limit previously set in Family Link will also apply to the game on an iPhone.

How it works

How it works in real life

  1. 01

Check which phone is an iPhone

If the parent has an iPhone and the child has a supported Android device, Family Link can manage that device. The parent’s phone alone does not determine the available controls.

  2. 02

Separate the account from iOS restrictions

Google account settings can affect supported Google services after sign-in. They do not replace system-level app restrictions on the child’s iPhone.

  3. 03

Choose a tool for the child’s device

For iPhone app limits and blocks, look at Apple’s Screen Time or an app using iOS control mechanisms. KidexGo needs its own setup and device pairing.

Why can I download Family Link but not set a game limit?

Family Link’s App Store listing includes use on the parent’s phone. Its availability does not mean Google can block any app on a child’s iPhone.

Google explains that Family Link screen-time limits and app management do not cover a child’s iOS activity. Reinstalling the app does not remove that service limitation.

Where does KidexGo fit?

KidexGo is a separate app for supported iOS restrictions. It does not import Family Link rules. Create a child profile, pair the devices and select apps in KidexGo.

Our other guides explain app blocking and daily limits. Before testing, check the current app requirements and the functions supported on your family’s devices.

Good to know

KidexGo works with iOS mechanisms — it does not promise access Apple does not provide.

The available control depends on the iOS version and the child account setup. KidexGo uses official Apple mechanisms and does not read private messages or browse photos.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I use Family Link on my own iPhone?

Yes. The parent app is available on iOS, but the controls depend on the child’s device.

Will Family Link limit a game on my child’s iPhone?

Google does not provide the same app limits on iOS as on a supervised Android device. iPhone restrictions use Apple’s mechanisms.

Does KidexGo transfer Family Link settings?

No. Set up the devices and rules separately in KidexGo.
