App time limits

How to set an app time limit on your child’s iPhone

A daily limit sets how long a child can use a selected app. Before changing it, decide whether you want a regular rule or just extra minutes today.

How it works in real life

45 minutes every day, 15 more today

Your child wants to finish a game after using the daily limit. Grant extra time if you want an exception for today. Raising the regular limit to 60 minutes is a different decision: changing the everyday rule.

How it works

How it works in real life

  1. 01

    Choose a controlled app

Open the child’s profile and Apps. Select the app whose usage you want to limit. If it is missing, add it to control first.

  2. 02

    Set the daily limit

Choose an available duration or enter a custom value. Check that you are editing this app’s limit rather than another device rule.

  3. 03

    Check the measurement and restriction

After synchronization, test the limit on the child’s phone. For a later exception, grant extra time for today instead of changing the regular limit.

A daily limit does not set the hours of use

A 30-minute app limit does not mean the app can be used only after school. Set the hours separately with a school or night schedule.

If you use Apple limits alongside KidexGo rules, check both sets of settings. Extra time in one parental-control tool does not necessarily remove a restriction set in another.

Why can the parent’s usage reading be delayed?

Measuring usage and delivering a report are separate steps. The value shown to the parent depends on the child device’s report and the last synchronization.

If a reading looks wrong, note the time you checked it and the last sync time. Include the limit and granted extra minutes in your support request to help distinguish an old report from a rule problem.

Good to know

KidexGo works with iOS mechanisms — it does not promise access Apple does not provide.

The available control depends on the iOS version and the child account setup. KidexGo uses official Apple mechanisms and does not read private messages or browse photos.

FAQ

Common questions

Do extra minutes change tomorrow’s limit?

Extra time for today is a separate exception. Change the regular daily limit only when you want a new ongoing rule.

Does one app limit restrict the whole phone?

Do not treat them as the same rule. An app limit applies to the scope selected for that app.

Does a daily limit replace night mode?

No. A limit sets the available duration; a schedule sets the restricted hours.
