First device setup

How to prepare your child’s iPhone for parental controls

Keep both phones nearby for the first setup. You need access to the child’s settings, the required Apple permissions and an internet connection.

How it works in real life

Pair the devices before adding restrictions

Start with one app and a short test rule. Check that the child’s phone receives the change before setting a schedule for the whole week.

How it works

How it works in real life

  1. 01

Prepare the account and both phones

Check the iOS versions and current KidexGo requirements. Add a child profile on the parent’s phone. On the child’s phone, choose child-device setup and grant the required permissions.

  2. 02

Pair the phones with a code

Generate a code for the selected profile. Enter it on the child’s phone or use QR. If the code expires, generate another one for the same profile.

  3. 03

Choose an app and run a test

Add an app to control, set a short block or limit and check the result. See Getting started for the full setup instructions.

Reinstalling does not have to mean a new profile

If the child’s profile already exists, start from that profile when setting up again. Generate a new pairing code rather than creating another child with the same name.

After pairing, check the device name and saved rules. With several phones, it is easy to inspect the usage of a different device from the one being tested.

How to check the completed setup

Open the selected app on the child’s phone, apply a rule from the parent’s phone and check the effect after synchronization. Change the rule again to test restoring access too.

Then set school and night schedules. Explain which apps have limits, when blocks apply and how to ask for extra time. You do not need to read the child’s messages to agree on these rules.

Good to know

KidexGo works with iOS mechanisms — it does not promise access Apple does not provide.

The available control depends on the iOS version and the child account setup. KidexGo uses official Apple mechanisms and does not read private messages or browse photos.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I complete setup without the child’s phone?

Do not assume so. Installation, Apple permissions and pairing require access to the child’s device.

The pairing code expired. Should I add the child again?

Generate a new code for the existing profile. An expired code does not require another child profile.

What should I include in a support request?

The models and iOS versions of both devices, profile and device names, app name, test time and last sync time. Do not send passwords or your PIN.
